The Four Building Blocks

  • Reading Mission

    The Very Airy Flight Crew Reading Mission Kit runs throughout the program, encouraging students to read both during after-school hours or at home. Students aim to earn their flight crew wings by reading 50 books or logging 500 minutes of reading.

  • Character Creator

    Students use the Character Creator Kit to design their own characters. Whether it’s a hero or a villain, students develop traits, backstories, and adventures to bring their characters to life.

  • Book Writing Kit

    Students use the Book Writing Kit to write their own books. This kit has everything they need to turn their ideas into a finished story.

  • Story-Themed Physical Activities

    Engage students in movement while connecting physical activity to storytelling and writing concepts. These easy-to-follow activities require minimal materials, making them ideal for short breaks during the "After the Bell" program.

Implementation Options

  • Option 1: Flexible, Student-Led Approach

    Let students work at their own pace in a less structured way. They can move through the Reading Mission, Character Creator, and Book Writing Kit as they wish. This option gives students more control over their learning, allowing them to spend extra time on activities they enjoy.
